Mount Pleasant Community
Mount Pleasant is a very large portion of East Van and is also becoming one of the most desirable areas to call home. It borders Downtown Vancouver, Ontario Street to the West Clark Drive to the East and E. 22nd Ave to the North. Within this area you will find Main Street, Cambie Village, Strathcona, part of Gastown and Chinatown. It’s quickly becoming one of the most central areas in Vancouver with quick access to the Skytrain, major bus routes and a variety of shops.
In the Strathcona/Union Street area to the North we will find a lot of the townhouses to be conversions of heritage buildings with some new duplexes recently built as well. The neighbourhood is very up and coming and is quickly becoming a hot spot for young families. It has a very artistic vibe and one that feels very urban. Starting prices for townhomes in Stratchona are in the high $500,000 range.
Along 12th Ave you will find some newer built front and back duplexes which can save you some money as you are on a busier street. These generally start from the mid $700’s and up. These duplexes have the advantage of being on a major street for quick access to transportation however you will likely notice the street noise. Back duplexes in this area are much more desirable and more expensive as you are not facing onto 12th.
Just East of Main Street you will find some newer buildings with great ground level townhomes. These are pushing $800-$900K but the buildings are generally newer and will come with a few more amenities. There are some great options for larger 2 bedroom townhomes mixed in with the option of 3 bedroom townhouses as well. Sophia and Uptown are two examples of these types of townhouses.
